2016 President, East Valley Association of REALTORS®

As an independent contractor and small business owner, it is critical to continually evaluate the effectiveness of current practices, monitor for new tools and strategies, and enhance one’s skill set and knowledge.

With an ever evolving industry, it can be difficult to stay on the cutting edge, both working ON your business and working IN your business.

That’s why having systems in place and working with other like-minded professionals helps raise the bar for performance and outcome.

Never before, has it been as important to have a local REALTOR® association to partner with that can help you achieve your goals and keep you abreast of the trends, laws and education.  Synergy is built by networking with other agents bearing the same goals and sharing new ideas.  Fiscal viability is also essential as we’ve learned by watching other industries that there are two choices: to grow and evolve; or wither and die.

As a past president and treasurer (multiple years) of the East Valley Association of REALTORS®, and 24-year real estate practitioner, I support the opportunity to merge The Inland Gateway Association of REALTORS® and The East Valley Association of REALTORS®. As one association, it gains strength politically, strategically and financially.  It is a logical and practical move which will benefit each member and ultimately, the public…those we’ve dedicated ourselves to protect and serve.

The proposed merger between the Inland Gateway Association of REALTORS® and the East Valley Association of REALTORS® presents an exciting opportunity for all members involved.

As a 2-time past President of the Inland Gateway Association of REALTORS® with over 30 years of active involvement, I wholeheartedly support this initiative. Here are some positive comments and benefits of the organization merging:

  1. Membership Growth: With the merger, our combined membership will skyrocket from over 2,000 members to potentially over 4,000 members. This exponential growth opens up new avenues for networking, collaboration, and business opportunities for all members.

  2. Enhanced Resources: By pooling together our resources, both associations will be able to provide even more robust training programs, resources, and support services to our members. This means access to a wider range of educational opportunities, tools, and expertise to help real estate professionals thrive in their careers.

  3. Strength in Unity: The merger strengthens the foundation of both associations, leveraging the best practices and strengths of each entity. Together, we can achieve greater impact and influence in advocating for the interests of REALTORS® and promoting homeownership, rental options, affordable housing, and REALTORS®' rights at local, state, and national levels.

  4. Shared Vision and Values: It's clear that both associations share a common vision, values, and passion for the real estate industry. This alignment ensures a smooth integration process and fosters a strong sense of unity and camaraderie among members and leadership.

  5. Political Presence: With a larger combined membership base, our collective voice becomes even more powerful in the political arena. We can advocate more effectively for policies and initiatives that support the real estate industry and the communities we serve, amplifying our impact and influence.

  6. Opportunity for Collaboration: The merger opens up exciting opportunities for collaboration and innovation. By bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences, we can foster a dynamic environment where ideas flourish, partnerships form, and new initiatives are born.

In conclusion, the proposed merger is a win-win for both associations and their members. I'm eager to see the positive outcomes that will emerge from this strategic alliance and am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this exciting journey. Thank you for your consideration and support in approving the merger.

2011 President, The Inland Gateway Association of REALTORS®

Recently I became aware of the merger of the East Valley Association of REALTORS® (EVAR) and The Inland Gateway Association of REALTORS® (TIGAR) and I would like to commend the leadership teams that made this merger a reality.

As the 2011 President of TIGAR, I recognized the difficulties that lied before our historic Association (of which I have been a proud member since 1993) even back then, we knew that for TIGAR to remain both relevant in the market place, and fiscally strong enough to survive the industry expansions and contractions of our market place, we had to become a part of something bigger, or create a larger footprint on our own. While we would occasionally see our membership swell as the market expanded, we never truly had sustainable growth (when inevitably) the market contracted.

This merger between TIGAR and EVAR is a merger of peers. Both associations will be stronger through this union. And, both associations will be better positioned to survive the ebb and flow of our ever changing market as they become one.

I would like to congratulate the leadership teams of both organizations for successfully navigating the myriad of challenges you faced as you made this merger a reality.
